The Institute for Learning (IfL) is pleased to announce that in the financial year 2012-13 it will continue to administer bursaries to trainee teachers on behalf of Ufi Charitable Trust, to help towards the cost of a numeracy specific diploma.
Teams are invited to compete for up to £60k to develop an app to boost adult numeracy, at The University of Nottingham on 4 March. The deadline for submissions is at 5pm on 21 February.
Almost half of adults in England (49%) have entry-level maths skills – at best the level of maths you would be expected to have by age 11. To help more people improve their maths skills, a new initiative – Maths4Us – starts today with over 20 national organisations coming together to take strategic action on adult maths.
As part of a major new numeracy initiative in 2013 – Action on Adult Maths - NIACE is conducting a search for the top maths apps and app developers to create a database of resources which can help adults improve their maths skills.
